XIAO QING GAN

-Mandarine Pu er tea-

Origin: Guangdong & Yunnan
Summer harvest 2019

The Xiao Qing Gan is a very particular tea, hardly found around and difficult to process.
These are small mandarins that grow in Guangdong, Xinhui district, located in southern China near Hong Kong.

These mandarins (called Chenpi in Chinese) are harvested during the summer period when they are still green and emptied of the pulp inside. The next step involves a delicate drying process to not lose the essential oils contained in the peels.
Then they are filled with Shu Pu Erh leaves from Yunnan, also in the south.
At this point, the two elements that make up this fantastic tea are allowed to blend together.

The Mandarine Pu Erh tea represents two Chinese excellence products, Xinhui mandarins are highly sought after because they are considered to come from an excellent terroir and rich in flavor. The same goes for Yunnan Pu Erh, in this case a blend of Shu.

Once infused, this Chinese mandarin tea presents very interesting notes, the citrus part is clearly felt but delicate as it is balanced by the presence of Pu Erh leaves with their roots in the earth, tobacco and chocolate notes.

It is also a tea that can vary greatly depending on how it is prepared.

Preparation of Mandarine Pu Erh

  • First method: Infuse a whole mandarin in a teapot, making several infusions with it.
We have made up to 8 infusions.
-The teapot should not exceed 400ml.

  • Second method: Cut or break the mandarin into two or three parts.
    -Water at 100°C.
    -Infusions 2-3 min, multiple
  • Third method: Empty the mandarin and infuse only the leaves, you can decide whether to break the mandarin and mix it with the infusions or not.
