The Long Jing is certainly one of the most famous and recognized green teas of a certain rank. There are many different grades available, coming from different cultivars and harvested in different weeks of the year. The name of this Long Jing is due to the presence of a Buddhist temple in the area, which is called Da Fo.
For 2021, we continued with this Long Jing that seemed to have an excellent quality-price ratio.
The cultivar name used for the Long Jing Da Fo on our online shop is number 43.

Origin

The Premium Terza Luna selection is composed of high-quality loose leaf teas from a small distribution circuit. In this way, Terza Luna aims to promote the culture of true loose leaf tea, hand-picked by small growers, following ancient wisdom. All teas in the premium selection are very fresh and of guaranteed quality.

What we offer is a Long Jing or Lung Ching, harvested at the end of April, with a much more delicate taste compared to other grades that are harvested later. The origin area is also important: the best Long Jing comes from districts near the city of Hangzhou or from eastern Zhejiang, as in our case: from Xin Chang county.
The name of this Long Jing is due to the presence of a Buddhist temple in the area, which is called Da Fo.
For 2021, we continued with this Long Jing that seemed to have an excellent quality-price ratio. Grown at an altitude of 700 meters. Bud and 1st leaf.

Green Tea Long Jing: Properties and Benefits

The precious Long Jing tea is one of the most appreciated green teas also for the beneficial properties it provides to those who consume it. Belonging to the category of green teas, it has a high number of antioxidants that promote the proper functioning of our immune system. Furthermore, its consumption contributes to maintaining the health of the teeth, reducing cholesterol and lowering stress levels thanks to the presence of the amino acid L-Theanine.

Long Jing: Preparation

For the preparation of Long Jing, we recommend bringing the water to a temperature of 80°C. Once the necessary temperature is reached, you can steep the tea leaves, about 1g per 100ml of water, and let it steep for no more than 4 minutes. After the necessary time has passed, you can filter the Long Jing infusion and enjoy it.

Furthermore, in summer, it is possible to prepare Long Jing in Cold Brew, that is, with cold extraction.

Taste and Sensory Characteristics of Long Jing Cha

Its infusion leaves a slightly smoky taste, due to the manual toasting of the leaves. The note of hazelnut and chestnut, together with a subtle vegetal hint, is the great characteristic that distinguishes Long Jing green teas.
